Standing Ready Since 1974

Founded in the wake of the April 1974 Super Outbreak that devastated communities across North Alabama, the North Alabama Mutual Aid Association (NAMAA) exists for a single purpose: ensuring that when disaster exceeds the capabilities of any one county, help is already on the way.

NAMAA unites 22 county emergency management agencies under a mutual assistance agreement. When a tornado, flood, wildfire, or other emergency overwhelms local resources, member counties can quickly request and receive personnel, equipment, and supplies from their neighbors — through an established, tested process that gets aid moving fast.

23 Counties. One Mission.
